Development of fall detection system

Abstract

In this study, we propose a technique to detect many fall patterns by measuring a vertical (gravitational) displacement on a human body. At falling down, the center-of-gravity position of a human body falls in the vertical axis. About 1.0 m vertical displacement is expected in all types of fall. In this paper, a fall detection system is proposed, which measures the vertical displacement of the fall, by a small device. This device has tri-axial accelerometer and tri-axial gyroscope.
