Development of energy conversion systems based on characteristics of magnetic material

The purpose of this study is to obtain knowledge about the possibility of energy conversion systems based on magnetic characteristics of magnetic working substance. We conducted the experimental study on two energy conversion systems using gadolinium as a magnetic material. (1) Room temperature magnetic refrigeration system aims to generate cooling energy for air conditioning. (2) Temperature difference energy conversion aims to use surplus heated or cooled air for power generation. The experimental results indicated the availabilities and the characteristics of these two energy conversion systems.
